Passage: Nehemiah 10:1-39

Preacher: Allen Duty

Series: Courageous Leadership: The Book of Nehemiah

Category: Sunday Morning

Keywords: courageous leadership, nehemiah

After confessing their sins, the people of Israel "make a firm covenant in writing" to observe and obey all of God's Law that he revealed to Moses. As we all must do, they make specific application referring to certain parts of the Law they have historically struggled to obey, from as far back as the Judges to just a few years ago when Ezra returned. They highlight the need to refrain from marrying unbelievers, to honor the Sabbath, and to generously support the work and workers of the temple. They were called to be distinct from the people around them. Today in America, Christians blend in with unbelievers almost to the point that you can't tell us apart. In contrast, we'll learn that God's people are to live holy, distinct lives for his glory.
